Riggins "Gouge Eye" Idaho

Riggins, the "Whitewater Capitol of Idaho" is surrounded by recreational opportunities. It's a land of rugged canyons and roaring whitewater along the Salmon "River of No Return" where rafters, campers, and hikers enjoy the banana-belt climate. Here Pacific steelhead and Chinook salmon fight long and hard. The peaks of the Seven Devils mountain range tower high enough to overlook four states. Just to the west Hells Canyon plunges to the deepest depths in North America, and to the East are the Frank Church and Gospel Hump wilderness areas.

LOCATION

U.S. Highway 95, 45 miles South of Grangeville and 45 miles North of McCall.

Elevation: 1800 feet - Population 530

Climate: Summer temperatures range from 70 to 105 degrees; winter low from 10 to 35 degrees. The growing season is from April to September.
